N.T. Wright writes that not only is some variation of "Do not be afraid" the most frequent command in the Bible, but it's the command we most want to hear and have the least idea how to obey.

This is a stunning post, Angela. The pace of your storytelling is spellbinding. Look forward to hearing more about Bolivia.

Angela...My son Ramón sent me the link to your blog and suggested that I read what you had written. So here I sit at 1 a.m. nodding my head at what you have said. I have experienced fear and I have experienced love. Thank God for love. Thank you for your story.

Angela- my friend Ramón sent me the link to your blog. I am jealous that you got to see in person what I've only read and studied in books (my major was latin american literature). I highly recommend you reading the testimonial literature of a woman who survived the mines of Bolivia and is now an international spokesperson for women. The title is: "Si me permiten hablar" (if you would allow me to speak) by Domitila, written by Moema Viezzer. You can find it used on amazon for a buck. I hope you can find the English version. Thanks for writing!

Angela, you have such a gift. Thank you for sharing this with us. I love the term "pure love." I believe whole heartedly that pure love can melt fear as if it were melting butter. First though, we must understand what pure love is.

Beautiful post!

Really good story, Angela. Thanks for sharing this gift with us! This story encourages us to keep on fumbling forward in the Spirit and not live by the flesh (how do i look, how do i feel, how do i control).

I think you captured it. It made me think of the big mural of heaven and hell in the church at Oruro. "There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear because fear has torment."
